The tboWeb Design Road Show – Where? You decide!
4February 21, 2014 by Joel_Hughes
Hopefully you’ve heard that there’s a conference this year in Cardiff? Well, as part of that I thought I’d do a bit of a mini-road show and go out about. Each month I’ll be visiting a different city and meeting a whole load of new people and talk about web business stuff.
City wise I’m guessing these are going to places I can get to easily without breaking the bank e.g. Bristol, Manchester, Birmingham etc. However, if you want to fly me to New York, I’ll consider it (ahem!).
Whilst I’m out & about I’m going to try and do some/all of the following:
- Interview an agency/micro-agency about their business
- Interview a freelancer about their business
- Have some nice food (sadly no beer, still off the ale at the mo)
- Attend/run a free, grass roots event where freelancers, micro-agency type folks can get to together and have a chat about running a web business*.
(*This could well be part of an already organised local event, this could be a room in a pub; whatever. Ultimately I just want like minded folks to be able to ask questions & share experience).
What can you do to help?
I need your help with the following:
- Where should I go?
- Who should I speak to there?
- Who can help set up the free evening event?
The interviews?
I’d like to interview folks who are happy to talk about a wide range of business topics; pricing, dealing clients, scoping projects, retaining staff etc.
The interview audio will go on this blog so I can share the insights with the community.
The Book
Oh,, there is a book coming out as well which will go along side the main conference. This book will have short pieces based on your everyday experience of running a web business. If you’d like to contribute, please let me know and I’ll tell you the details.
So, if you think you can help with any of the above, please shout out. Initially I just want to get the destinations in place for the next couple of months and then flesh out the details.
Joel
